Howland Chamber Music Circle, Inc.
The intimate atmosphere and fine acoustics of the Howland Center provide a place in which classical chamber music can be heard in the kind of setting for which it was originally created. The Howland Chamber Music Circle was formed nine years ago to bring the best performing groups to this outstanding hall to he heard by Mid-Hudson audiences. Both audiences and musicians find this to be an exhilarating experience, and many return repeatedly because they love to perform in such a friendly environment. The receptions following each concert enhance the feeling of personal involvement with the musicians.
Now a separate non-profit organization with its own membership, The Howland Chamber Music Circle continues to make the Howland Center its home and the location of all its concerts, which take place on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. Over the years it has presented many outstanding young artists, often winners of important competitions who have since made a name for themselves in the music world. These include the Miami, Brentano and Pacifica String Quartets, pianists Mia Chung and Christopher O'Riley, and the remarkable young violinist Joseph Lin.
