presenting: Biava String Quartet

Having just completed two years as the graduate quartet in residence at Juilliard,
the Biava Quartet recent joined Astral Artists as winners of their 2009 competition.
They plan to play Schubert, Shostakovich No. 4, Barber and Ginastera.

an eight-member New York ensemble, performing music, including a premiere, by Debra Kaye, composer
Debra is a part-tme Beacon resident who is a member of the Mannes College of Music faculty
whose writings in the contemporary classical vein have been priased as
"lyrical, dramatic, witty, transcendent, fun, beautiful and original..." reflecting both "sensitivity and raw power."

Adam Levy & The Mint Imperials
Along with Levy’s unique voice, emotional songwriting, and blues-infused guitar playing,
the album features the dynamic interplay of Levy’s band—bassist Andy Hess (Gov’t Mule, the Black Crowes,
John Scofield) and drummer Tony Mason (Norah Jones, Martha Wainwright, Cyril Neville, Charlie Hunter),
collectively known as the Mint Imperials.  tickets: $10.00

Local 845 and the Howland Proudly Present   7:30 PM
RAMBLIN' JUG STOMPERS...They are back!
play 78 rpm music for the 21st century
Their ramblin style nods to the great tradition of American string band music
while winking directly at the classic jug bands of the 60s folk scene.
This very fun group got a rousing reception when they played last year
playing everything from the kazoo and jug to banjo and mandolin.   tickets: $12.00

Sunday Mar 28

The Howland Chamber Music Circle Concert   4:00 PM
featuring Peabody Piano Trio

Peabody Trio will perform with Roger Tapping, viola.
The trio won the prestigious Naumberg Chamber Music Award and are the resident faculty trio
ensemble at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. They plan to play Beethoven,
Ives and the Faure Piano Quartet in C minor.
