Art Gallery
The arts do make a difference! When monthly exhibitions come down, and there are a few days in which everything is bare, even the walls weep. The room is once again transformed with the new exhibition, and we rejoice at all the creativity, beauty, and expression that artists bring into our lives.
During the season, the art gallery holds exhibitions: paintings, sculpture, photography, folk art, exceptional pottery, and fine crafts. The arts enrich us. They stir us to think, to view life from another perspective, and the new season promises to do just that!
The Howland Cultural Center especially invites parents, and grandparents, too, to bring their children to the exhibitions.
Just as we want our children to learn and love to read by reading to them, so do we want to plant the seed that the grandeur of art enriches our lives by exposing them to the world of art.
Each year, we consistently promote artists who have not previously shown in the gallerv. We want The Howland Cultural Center to be a showcase for Hudson Valley artists. Therefore, if an artist has caught your attention, we welcome your referral. There is so much talent in the Valley.
The Center is open to the public every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (and by appointment). However, viewing hours may be limited on several Saturdays and Sundays during the season when the Classics for Kids concerts and The Howland Chamber Music Circle concerts take place at 4:00 p.m. Please check the calendar listing for those dates. There is no admission charge to the exhibitions, although donations are always appreciated. For further information, please call (845) 831-4988 or 831-4614.
